Welcome

Welcome to my blog/site. Thank you for stopping by.

NOTE: 2/3/2013 – I’m having a little technical problem on the site. Some features may not be working. I’ll fix it as soon as possible

If you are one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, please consider the contents of this site carefully. Yes,  this site does take a critical look at the teachings and practices of the leadership of Jehovah’s Witnesses. But they have invited that critical look at themselves. Consider the following from the August 22, 1984 Awake! magazine. In response to a letter calling them to task for their criticism of the Pope, the “faithful slave” replied:

We surely were not trying to take cheap shots at the pope or the Catholic Church, nor were we criticizing Catholics. The Catholic Church occupies a very significant position in the world and claims to be the way of salvation for hundreds of millions of people. Any organization that assumes that position should be willing to submit to scrutiny and criticism. All who criticize have the obligation to be truthful in presenting the facts and fair and objective in assessing such. In both respects we try to live up to that obligation. – ED.

Those who claim to speak for the “faithful and discreet slave”  have set themselves up as Gods channel of communication with mankind and have stated that one must be connected with them in order to serve Jehovah acceptably and in order to be saved. Therefore, they should be held as accountable and be as subject to a critical examination of their teachings and practices as they feel the Catholic Church should.

I realize that presentation and discussion of the similarities and differences between Jehovah’s Witnesses and “Christendom” may often become adversarial and combative. Talking about Jehovah’s Witness related issues such as blood transfusions, child molestation, disfellowshipping and failed prophecies may seem to be unnecessarily critical and negative.

I have tried to present the information on this site as objectively, accurately and honestly as possible. My subjective observations are my own.

I cannot speak for all former Jehovah’s Witnesses, only for myself. My criticism is not of you as a person, but of the organization and its teachings and policies. It is also criticism of what I did, what I supported and what I was while I was a Jehovah’s Witness. I don’t mean to beat up on you or myself, but I know that sometimes it may feel that way to you (and sometimes to me). If I sometimes sound angry, please realize that I am not angry at you.

I have no reason to be angry at any particular individual Jehovah’s Witness. Any anger that I have is directed at the organization, and some at what I allowed myself to become while I was part of it and at the degree to which I perpetuated the doctrines and policies that I now see were flawed.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below. If you wish to email me privately, you can do so at bob ‘at’ docbob.org. All communications will be kept confidential.

  5. Hi doc Bob,
I would like to know if you still have that letter that one could send to elders that threatens legal action for the pursuance of a judicial case. When I was going through one back in 2001 or thereabouts, I sent them that letter and it really got them to back off me quick. Unfortunately I actually went back in when I started dating a JW, but that was my fault. anyway, the subject has come up on JWN. I was hopinbg you had that letter around somewhere still. It really helped at the time.
I’m glad you are still around. Your explanation of atheism was really great too. An explanationb that a lot of atheists don’t even understand.
    I hope all is well

You’re a former JW? What got you out? It’s always interesting to know people’s story. Take care.

  8. Hello Bob,
I have just found your site and am interested to find out what you are really promoting. I have not had a really close look and may have missed a vital clue. I would, however, like to find an order or organization that really does want to find out the truth and not just someone who wants to justify his or her inabilities to comply with instruction clearly documented in God’s word the bible. So if you are one of these then please ignore this note. I am dismayed at my observations of some of the people that make up the WT organization though and find many discrepancies and distortions between what is practiced and the instruction given in God’s word. When I tried to take my issues up with them they label me with insulting names, which may or may not be justified. I am still searching for the truth though and I know that I am not going to find that easy. What are your thoughts Bob?

  9. Hello!
I’m new on this forum and need help! somebody can help me?

  10. ”You’ll never get sick. You will never grow old. And you will never die.”

Although the above words come from the movie “Cocoon,” they could have come
from the Watchtower Society because this is the same thing they have been proclaiming for decades as part of “the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things.”*

This very appealing prospect attracts many people to begin to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. It then sustains them as they eagerly wait for the fulfillment of this promise.

But during the course of their study they get drawn into an illusionary concept involving the Watchtower organization that gradually takes over their decision-making process and even their conscience without them realizing it. It happens because of a mistake that everyone makes before they decide to become a Jehovah’s Witness.

Captives of a Concept identifies both the concept and the mistake that causes people to become captives of it. The book also offers a few suggestions about how to help Jehovah’s Witnesses correct their mistake and teach themselves the truth about their religion.

The book is designed to help the reader understand the illusionary concept mentioned by former Governing Body member Raymond Franz in his Crisis of Conscience which holds Jehovah’s Witnesses captive by dominating and controlling how they think and act.

It explains how the leadership has been able to keep themselves (apparently) and millions of Jehovah’s Witnesses convinced that “the Watchtower Society is God’s organization” no matter what the Bible says or what went on in the organization’s history.

  12. Hi there Bob, I have come across your site in the past and have perused it again just recently and I thought that I might post this website address on here because I feel that the information contained on this site could be of benefit to all Christians, including those who are members of the organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

It has helped me a lot and I know that it does have the potential to help many to understand the good news that Jesus preached about, almost 2000 years ago.

Anyway here is the web address just below.

  13. Thank you for the site and information. Being out of the organization can be a very lonely dark place and I am glad I am not alone.
