Watchtower

 

The term Watchtower is used in several ways:

1. The Watchtower magazine – Started by Charles Taze Russell on July 1, 1879. It’s original title was Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.

2. Watchtower Society – Founded in 1881 as Zion’s Watch Tower Tract Society and incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1884. In 1896, the name of the corporation was changed to Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society.

3. Particularly prior to 2000, synonymous with the leadership of the religious organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses. a.k.a “The Society” see the post “The Society Says”
